Our Goal:
The Conserve Maine Energy campaign is dedicated to educating the public about energy efficiency and providing the necessary resources to lessen the high energy costs burdening economically disadvantaged Mainers.
Why?
Energy efficiency eliminates energy waste by using less energy to perform the same task (Environmental Energy Study Institute). Economically disadvantaged people are more burdened by energy costs, spending 16.3% of their annual incomes on energy compared to 3.5% for other households (2014 ORNL study). Improving residential energy efficiency not only helps low-income households save money but also is the cheapest and often quickest way to reduce the use of fossil fuels and demand for energy imports.
