SENCER New England Regional Gathering

April 22, 2017, 9:00 – 4:00 PM, Abromson Community Education Center, University of Southern Maine, South Portland, ME

Science Education for New Civic Engagements and Responsibilities (SENCER) trains educators to create multi-disciplinary curricula that invite students to create change in the local community and environment by using their science knowledge and the scientific method to solve complex, contested, current, and unresolved civic questions.

Join us in a celebration and idea sharing of the SENCER ideals!  During this gathering we will explore examples of courses that have successfully implemented SENCER ideals; discuss hands-on, interdisciplinary teaching techniques that connect STEM to critical local, national and global challenges; and showcase student scientific research, SENCER activities, and/or civic engagement projects at a student poster session. Participation is free, register here!

Interested in presenting? We will have a faculty panel discussion of successful SENCER programs and a student poster session showcasing research and/or work that exemplifies the SENCER ideals. Panel Discussion Participants and Abstracts for Student Posters due April 10, 2017.
